Canada Plans Up to C$1.6 Billion Investment to Expand Cohere's Sovereign AI Capabilities

On 29 October 2026, the Canadian government announced a planned investment of up to C$1.6 billion in Cohere, while the company committed at least C$1.7 billion in additional Canadian computing infrastructure by 2030. The initiative strengthens domestic AI development and creates opportunities for data-centre operators, cloud providers and cybersecurity companies.
